Ebenezer Tetteh-Baah Akwesi Tel:0207380627 Email: ebenezerak@gmail.com For the first 3 weeks of the course, students will be made to appreciate all the basic concepts of GSM, fundamental principles that guide the implementation of a GSM or 2G network from the planning and Optimization perspective. After this period student should be able to understand into details below principles and concepts: Week 1 • GSM Basic Principles • GSM Communication Flow Week 2 • GSM RNP Fundamental/GSM Frequency Planning • GSM Radio Network Coverage and Capacity Planning • GPRS Principle & GPRS Planning & GPRS Parameter & GPRS KPI Analysis Week 3 • MS Behavior in idle Mode & System Information and Cell Data • GSM Handover Concept • KPI Reporting and Analysis- Using Excel tool Week 4 (Accessibility KPIs) At the end of this module, students should be able to understand the Network Accessibility Key Performance Indicators. Students should be able to analyze, troubleshoot and implement corrective measure to resolve and improve these KPIs • SDCCH/TCH Assignment Success Rate • Call Setup Success rate • TCH/SDCCH Congestion Week 5 (Retainability and Mobility KPIs) At the end of this module, students should be able to understand the Network Retainability and Mobility Key Performance Indicators. Students should be able to analyze, troubleshoot and implement corrective measure to resolve and improve these KPIs • TCH/SDCCH Drop • Handover Success Rate • Field Visit Week 6 (Service Integrity and Features) At the end of the module, students should be able to understand the Service Integrity KPIs and some RF Optimization features that can be deployed on a live network to improve user experience.
